Harbour Update May 15, 2020
The Ford Government had made some announcements yesterday which included opening up access to the Marinas. This is good news for our Membership as this now allows us access to our boats.
What do TYC Members need to know:
- We can go to the harbour on Saturday May 16th at 12:01 am to work on your boat. After that time, you will no longer need to call the Town to book an appointment or be restricted to a 4 hour window. Anyone working on their boat at 12:01 am Saturday May 16th 2020 will receive a special burgee from the TYC!
- Exciting news….. TYC Launch day is now confirmed as May 31 2020. We have spoken with Vanwyck crane service about other options but he has indicated that May 31 is the only date available date for our club. June 7 had been reserved by another club and his crane is not available for launch after that. I know this may not seem ideal for everyone but let’s look at the silver lining. The weather is much warmer now for boat prep versus getting the boat ready for our original May 10th launch date.
- We ask that all TYC members comply with the Ontario Gov’t covid 19 guidelines while they are down at the Harbour. Please refer to https://covid-19.ontario.ca/index.html for any details and our local public health unit https://www.publichealthgreybruce.on.ca/. In addition wearing face coverings or masks and bringing your own hand sanitizer are encouraged.
- Everyone’s safety is still top of mind. TYC is developing further procedures and guidelines to address the safety concerns of our members for launch day as well as throughout the season. Our launch day will look very different from ones in the past….details to follow.
-Additionally, the Town of the Blue Mountains will be providing supplemental requirements with the goal of keeping both Harbour users and Town staff safe for the season. TYC will remain supportive of any safety procedures as outlined by the Town.
-The Town will be responding to the request from Harbour Users who do not wish to launch their boat this season and would prefer to keep the boat on the hard for the summer. They are hoping to have details for this option no later than May 21 2020. We will pass along any information regarding this matter to our Members once available. Keep in mind that this would be an agreement between the Harbour User and the Town.
We are all in this together. To ensure our continued access, please be respectful to the Town staff, any TYC Committee member and your fellow TYC members. We ask that you follow any guidelines and use common sense while working down at the harbour. We are getting closer to being able to get out on our boats and social distance Georgian Bay style.
The countdown to Launch continues………Stay safe and stay tuned.
