We would like to thank Laura Lucas for two years of service as secretary on the Bridge. Laura has resigned from her position as Secretary as she was offered an opportunity to volunteer with her professional trade industry organization, where she will sit on the Board of Directors, in charge of education and will not be able to manage both roles. We thank Laura for all her hard work over the past two years and wish her the best in her new role.
The Bridge has voted to appoint Jennifer Perks to the position of secretary, effective December 1, 2017. Jennifer, her husband Matthew and their children Martha, Jack and Calvin joined the Thornbury Yacht Club this year and jumped in with both feet by attending many social events, helping at family day and now agreeing to join the Bridge as Secretary. The Bridge welcomes Jennifer and we are looking forward to working with her.
The Bridge would also like to thank Wendy Hately for offering to help out with the Secretary’s position while the Nominating Committee was working to fill this and various other bridge positions during this summer and fall.
It has been brought to our attention that over 130 models of Kidde fire extinguishers manufactured between 1973 and 2015 are being recalled. We have all purchased fire extinguishers (hopefully recently), and/or have fire extinguishers on our boats. Here is the link to identify those extinguishers in question:
Now that the boats are put away for the winter it's time to start up our 'off season' pub nights! They are the third Sunday of every month at 5 pm (unless there is a speaker when they will start at 4pm), and they are held at The Corner Cafe and Grill in Thornbury.
So, the first is being held on Sunday, December 17th...be sure to come to get caught up and to wish each other Seasons Greetings.
Additional dates to put on your calendar are:
January 21, February18, March 18, April 15....and then it will be time to launch again!
