Family Day 2017 - A New Tradition is Born!

For those of you that were able to attend our TYC Family Day on Saturday…it was an awesome day with something for everyone. For those of you that were not able to attend…you missed so many fun activities including a tour of the Commodore’s boat! We had Laser boat racing, RC Boat Racing, Kids Activities, Boat Tours, and BBQ under the pavilion. It was a perfect day with so many conversations with new and veteran TYC members.

Thanks to all that made this day a huge success:

Thanks to Carla Nicolson who organized the day including the boat/tour appetizers on the dock along with the BBQ. Terri Kimball, Glenn Hayworth, Kathey & Rene Koningen, Linda Fuhro, Nancy Dudgeon, Yolanda Pandolfo and Jamie Gardner helped on the day of with set-up and food organizing.

Thanks to Steven Wimmer who ran the laser racing/tryouts with ferry help from Doug Johnston; there were  6 lasers, 14 plus participants. Teams of father/daughter, father/son, grandfather/granddaughter,  young and old. And for racing of a different kind, thanks to Steve Fisher who ran the RC racing and introduced many to the fun of racing this one design fleet.

Special mentions to Matthew Curtis and Jenn Perks for the amazing effort and great planning for the team boat building and the kids activities during the boat tour.

Last but not least, thank you  to the13  boat tour hosts that opened their hatches for other members to climb aboard:

A Dock: Amida  (Andy Banaszak & Marilyn Beaton), Ganesha (Nancy & Scott Dudgeon), Guardian II (Carla Nicolson & Doug Johnston), Windless (Elizabeth & Alastair Hughes), Spirit of Tobermory (Terri Kimball & Mark Beaton)

I also want to mention the Coffee with the Bridge on the morning after the Family Fun Day. Thank you to those Members who came to meet with the Bridge to discuss any issues that were top of mind and also to learn about the Strategic Planning Process that the Bridge has embarked on. A summary of the meeting will be included in next week's e-blast.
